Global Language Bridge works with schools and community organisations in Bangladesh to provide regular English classes focused on communication and practical use. Our education team based in Bangladesh leads the pedagogical approach and curriculum, while the wider GLB team supports coordination and resources.
Classes shaped aroundeach learning environment
GLB delivers English classes both online and in person, depending on the needs and structure of each partner organisation. Across all locations, our volunteer teachers follow a shared educational approach focused on conversation, participation and practical use of English.
The format may differ from one program to another, while curriculum development, coordination and teaching remain part of the same GLB education model.
Four steps, repeated with every partner
Identify a partner
We look for schools and NGOs already serving these children, with stable leadership and safeguarding practice in place. Every class we run today is in partnership with the Bidyanondo Foundation.
Resource the classes
We bring the curriculum, the materials and the trained volunteers. The partner brings the room and the students.
Teach, week after week
Classes run on a fixed weekly schedule through the school term.
Track and report back
We track attendance and student progress to understand how the program is working, improve our teaching, and identify where students may need additional support.
How the speaking gap actually closes
Six things hold every class together. None of them is complicated; keeping all six running at once, every week, is the work.
Bilingual instruction
Classes move between English and Bengali so no student is stranded mid-sentence and made to sit the rest of the hour out.
Conversation first
Games, discussion and real practice. Grammar earns its place by making the speaking better, not by being memorised ahead of it.
A curriculum that adapts
Groups start where they are and move at their own pace, from first introductions to holding a conversation with someone they’ve never met.
Monthly teacher training
Our teacher trainer runs a practical workshop every month for volunteers and local staff together. One skill at a time.
Lightweight monitoring
Attendance and progress are recorded as the term runs, so a class that isn’t working can be corrected while it’s still running.
Free, always
No fee, no materials cost, nothing asked of the family. A class a household cannot afford is a class that does not close the gap.
